DESCRIPTION:Jimmie Nicol is best known for filling in for Ringo Starr in The Beatles when Ringo was hospitalized with tonsillitis on June 3\, 1964. For eight concerts during The Beatles’ 1964 world tour\, at the height of Beatlemania\, Nicol took Starr’s place. Although The Beatles\, especially George Harrison\, wanted to postpone the tour\, manager Brian Epstein\, after a frantic phone call\, decided to bring in drummer Jimmie Nicol as a temporary replacement. \nNicol played with The Beatles in Denmark\, the Netherlands\, Hong Kong\, and Australia\, catapulting him from relative obscurity to global fame and back again within just two weeks.

DESCRIPTION:Recollection sees Olivia\, a mother\, trying to piece together her late teenage daughter’s life through a perfume. \nIn the recent past\, Molly\, a teenage girl\, falls in love with Jenna\, a new friend at school. Molly’s mother\, Olivia\, is concerned about Jenna’s insensitivity and self-destructive behavior. Despite these concerns\, the relationship between the two girls flourishes in secret. \nIn the present\, Molly has passed away unexpectedly.   Leaving Olivia to reconstruct her life and remember her by creating a perfume that captures her scent. Olivia must confront the true essence of her daughter and who she was becoming\, integrating Jenna as an intrinsic part of Molly’s life. \nRecollection is directed by Cathy Hunt (‘What Every Girl Should Know’\, Brunswick Mechanics). This innovative queer work provides a sensory experience for audiences\, using scent to convey themes of grief\, decay\, and growth. The project is supported by the City of Melbourne Arts Grants\, the University of Melbourne Faculty of Fine Arts and Music\, and Ms. Beck Wilkinson\, with creative development support from Next Wave.
