SUMMARY:Tosca at The Margaret Court Arena
DESCRIPTION:In Puccini’s operatic masterpiece “Tosca\,” love\, jealousy\, and betrayal intertwine in a gripping tale set over 24 hours in Rome. Renowned prima donna Tosca finds herself in a desperate struggle to save her lover\, Cavaradossi\, from the clutches of the sadistic Chief of Police\, Scarpia. SUMMARY:Multiple Bad Things
DESCRIPTION:MULTIPLE BAD THINGS is a theatrical performance. It isn’t real\, yet in a world where self-righteous indignation often overshadows the most marginalised voices\, this theatre sometimes feels very real. \nIn this production\, set in a nondescript warehouse at the world’s edge\, three employees face a seemingly futile task. Struggling to collaborate\, they confront issues of inclusion and equity\, testing their physical limits\, cooperation\, and capacity for empathy. As civility erodes\, bad behaviour escalates\, and reality becomes increasingly distorted. \nBack to Back Theatre is renowned globally for challenging the boundaries of stage performance and personal perception. For over 30 years\, their ensemble has crafted powerful and captivating theatre that intertwines the personal\, political\, and cosmic.  Groundbreaking international productions include Ganesh Versus The Third Reich and Small Metal Objects.  MULTIPLE BAD THINGS is their latest endeavour. \nIn creating this new work\, Back to Back Theatre incorporates new voices into the creative process. Zoë Barry’s score is composed from field recordings of various “bad things.” Anna Cordingley’s design requires the actors’ physical involvement to fully realise the production.

SUMMARY:The Boy From Oz
DESCRIPTION:The Boy from Oz is the musical biography and tribute to the late great Peter Allen. \nPeter Allen was born in the outback Australian town of Tenterfield in 1944. He made his entertainment debut at the age of 5 impersonating Al Jolson. As a teenager he became a pop star and then toured Asia. There he met Judy Garland who took him to London where he met and become engaged to her daughter Liza Minnelli. In the US Peter enjoyed the highs of success by winning an Oscar\, selling out performances in Radio City Music Hall\, and receiving adulation when he returned to Australia. There were also plenty of lows … breaking up with his wife\, staging a Broadway flop\, the death of his partner and his own battle with illness. \nThe Boy from Oz leaps\, as does Peter himself\, from past to present and back to past all within the familiar context of one of his energy packed concerts.

Now\, it will enchant Newcastle audiences at the Civic Theatre. This gripping production\, presented by PW Productions\, Woodward Productions\, and Neil Gooding Productions\, brings the macabre to Australia. Moreover\, it features a stellar cast and a spine-tingling story that has captivated theatre-goers for over thirty years. \nStarring John Waters\, known for his roles in Doctor Doctor\, Offspring\, and Rake.  Also starring Daniel MacPherson\, famed for Land of Bad\, Foundation\, and Neighbours.   The Woman in Black promises an unforgettable theatrical experience. Indeed\, their portrayal of the central characters in Susan Hill’s ghost story immerses the audience in a world of suspense and terror. \nFurthermore\, Stephen Mallatratt’s stage adaptation of The Woman in Black is celebrated for its use of atmosphere\, illusion\, and controlled horror. Described by the Daily Telegraph as “the most brilliantly effective spine-chiller you will ever encounter\,” this production evokes fear and anticipation. Additionally\, Robin Herford’s direction enhances this effect\, creating a gripping study in suspense that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats. \nThe Woman in Black tells the story of a lawyer haunted by a curse he believes has been placed on his family by the spectre of a Woman in Black. To rid himself of this fear\, he enlists the help of a sceptical young actor to recount his terrifying story. As they delve deeper into his memories\, they find themselves ensnared in a world of eerie marshes and wailing winds. \nNotably\, it is the second longest-running play in Britain\, second only to The Mousetrap. Therefore\, The Woman in Black’s Newcastle run at the Civic Theatre is a must-see event. This historic venue\, with its intimate atmosphere\, is the perfect setting for a play that thrives on tension and suggestion. Don’t miss the chance to experience one of theatre’s most haunting stories live on stage. \nSecure your tickets now for The Woman in Black Newcastle.
