SUMMARY:Peter and The Starcatcher Canberra
DESCRIPTION:. Peter and the Starcatcher Canberra reveals the UNTOLD STORY OF NEVERLAND. \nThis Broadway sensation\, a New York Times Critic’s Pick and winner of five Tony Awards®\, will enchant Australia in 2024-2025. The production stars Colin Lane (Lano & Woodley)\, Alison Whyte (Frontline)\, Paul Capsis (La Cage Aux Folles)\, Olivia Deeble (Home and Away)\, and Otis Dhanji (Aquaman). \nOriginally developed by Disney Theatrical Group and written by Rick Elice (Jersey Boys).   The play is based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. Furthermore\, it has been reimagined by Dead Puppet Society. Consequently\, this eagerly awaited version of Peter and the Starcatcher blurs the lines between reality and fantasy\, exploring lands filled with curious creatures. \nAs a musical prequel to J.M. Barrie’s beloved classic\, Peter Pan\, Peter and the Starcatcher delves into the backstory of how an orphan boy becomes the iconic Peter Pan. The script is by Rick Elice and music by Wayne Barker.  The production merges imaginative storytelling with whimsical music\, creating a captivating theatrical experience. \nThe narrative follows a young orphan\, simply called Boy.  He meets Molly\, a determined girl on a mission to protect a trunk of magical “starstuff” from the villainous pirate\, Black Stache. Their journey together unfolds themes of friendship\, bravery\, and identity.  The story culminates in Boy’s transformation finally into Peter Pan. \nRenowned for its inventive stagecraft\, the play uses minimalistic props and also the physicality of its actors to bring fantastical elements to life. This innovative approach\, combined with a witty and poignant script\, has made Peter and the Starcatcher a favorite among audiences.  The show has earned multiple Tony Awards and critical acclaim for its creativity and heart. \nPeter and the Starcatcher Canberra opens October 15\, 2024. \nTour Dates\nCanberra 15 Oct – 3 Nov\nMelbourne 8-30 Nov\nSydney 31 Jan- 16 Feb

SUMMARY:Three Magpies Perched in a Tree
DESCRIPTION:Three Magpies Perched in a Tree is a beautiful\, heartbreaking play of the Indigenous Gothic genre that provides spiritual reprieve through Creation Stories. \nGothic archetypes twist their way through this affecting and confronting theatre trilogy. SUMMARY:A Chorus Line
DESCRIPTION:A Chorus Line is a stunning concept musical capturing the spirit and tension of a Broadway chorus audition. Exploring the inner lives and bittersweet ambitions of professional Broadway performers\, the show features one powerhouse number after another. Consequently\, each song delves deeper into their personal journeys\, revealing their struggles and triumphs. \nA Chorus Line delves into the experiences of seventeen dancers.  They are competing for a position in the chorus line of a Broadway show. After the initial cuts\, Zach\, the director and choreographer\, asks each dancer to share their personal stories. Discomfort gives way to revelation and confessions lead to redemption.  The audience begins to see the unique individuality of each dancer within the seemingly uniform chorus. From Cassie\, a star who longs for “the music and the mirror and the chance to dance\,” to Val\, a small-town girl with a newly transformed body\, and Mike\, who stepped into dance class in place of his sister\, confidently saying\, “I can do that.” Inspired by real stories from Broadway dancers as told to dancer and choreographer Michael Bennett\, A Chorus Line is a blend of humour\, heartbreak\, and refreshing honesty. \nMemorable musical numbers include What I Did for Love\, One\, I Can Do That\, At the Ballet\, The Music and the Mirror\, and I Hope I Get It. A brilliantly complex fusion of song\, dance\, and compellingly authentic drama.

SUMMARY:Admissions
DESCRIPTION:Admissions: A Provocative Examination of Privilege and Progressive Values\n“Admissions” is a thought-provoking satirical play that scrutinises the complexities of privilege\, power\, and progressive ideals within the context of the education system. Set in an elite New England preparatory school\, the narrative revolves around Sherri Rosen-Mason\, the head of admissions\, and her husband Bill\, the school’s principal.\nThe couple’s commitment to increasing diversity at their institution faces a critical test when their son’s Ivy League aspirations clash with their professed values. This conflict serves as a catalyst\, exposing the tensions between personal ambition and social ideals.\nThrough its sharp wit and incisive commentary\, “Admissions” challenges audiences to confront their own beliefs and biases. The play delves into the often-hypocritical nature of well-intentioned efforts to promote inclusivity\, questioning the limits of individual sacrifice for societal change.\nBy blending caustic humour with serious social critique\, “Admissions” offers a nuanced exploration of contemporary issues. It invites viewers to reflect on the true extent of their commitment to progressive values when personal interests are at stake\, ultimately asking: How far are we willing to go to see the change we claim to want in the world?
