The 153 year old Tenterfield Saddler building, made famous by the Peter Allen song, featured in the musical The Boy from Oz, is up for sale. The saddlery, situated in the northern NSW town Tenterfield, is a regular attraction for music and musical theatre fans worldwide.
Renowned singer-songwriter Peter Allen gave the saddlery worldwide recognition with his song, bearing the same name as the iconic building. The song was dedicated to Allen’s grandfather, the late George Woolnough, who used to own and operate the saddlery for over 50 years.
Designated a national treasure by the National Trust, the blue granite landmark still stands in near original condition, other than regular maintenance and restoration works.
We can only hope the new owners look after the building with as much love as the Brisbane based family who have owned it for the last 28 years.
