The iconic Australian musical The Boy From Oz is coming to Melbourne in July 2024. This magnificent smash-hit musical is based on the life and music of legendary Australian entertainer, Peter Allen. Introduced to the world by Judy Garland, Peter Allen’s path intersected with destiny when he met her daughter, Liza Minnelli, ultimately leading to their marriage. His career soared to remarkable heights, winning an Oscar, captivating audiences with sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall and basking in the adoration of his homeland upon his return to Australia. 

Melbourne’s musical theatre company Theatrical has announced the cast for their production of The Boy From Oz under the direction and choreography of Rhylee Nowell, and guided by Musical Director Alex Byrne.  Matthew Hadgraft takes on the iconic role of the legendary Peter Allen, promising to dazzle audiences with his charisma and talent.

Sharing the role, Reuben Koronczyk and Ethan Lockhart embody the youthful spirit and dreams of the young Peter Allen.  Maureen Andrew steps into the role of Marion Woolnough, bringing depth and emotion to this pivotal character.

Saskia Penn embodies the incomparable Judy Garland, capturing her essence with grace and power and Sarah Monteaux lights up the stage as the dynamic Liza Minnelli, bringing her legendary energy to every scene.

Leighton Garwin portrays Allen’s partner Greg Connell, adding layers of complexity to this important character and Mark Eather takes on the role of Peter Allen’s father Dick Woolnough, delivering a performance filled with heart and soul.

Angelina Sevastopoulos, Sylvia Kokkinos, and Tara Lichtenstein join forces as the Trio, harmonising and captivating audiences with their stunning vocals.

The Boy from Oz takes audiences on a journey between the past and present, all within the familiar setting of one of his vibrant and dynamic concerts. The Boy From Oz includes all of Peter Allen best-loved hits – I Still Call Australia Home, I Honestly Love You, Not The Boy Next Door, I Go To Rio, and many more.
