Eltham Little Theatre
21 April to 6 May
A stylish reinterpretation of what could arguably be called the world's first romantic comedy, Much Ado About Nothing is brought into modern Mediterranean Messina, as the illustrious Don Pedro brings his entourage to Governor Leonato’s mansion, all while various couples hide attraction behind verbal attacks. Will Benedick and Beatrice realise their true feelings for each other? Will Claudio and Hero be able to overcome the malicious slander of Don John? And will Constable Dogberry be able to find justice after being labelled an ass?
This show dials up the humour and charm while also demonstrating the seedy underbelly of misogyny and gossip that permeates society to this day.
